Combating Human Trafficking

On December 31, 2014, United States presidential proclamation was released to announce January 2015 as National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month.

Historically, labor of marginalized people who have been victims of physical abuse, intimidation, and outright enslavement. World have made great strides to right these wrongs; however, the issue of modern slavery still exists. Today, an estimated 12.3 million people are victims of human trafficking at any given time around the world.

Human trafficking is a hidden crime that affects agricultural and food industries when traffickers exploit people for commercial gain. Traffickers use force, fraud or coercion to force victims to work in fields and factories all over the world.

UDiON Foundation is proud to support this proclamation by promoting human trafficking awareness activities. Recognizing key indicators of human trafficking is the first step in identifying victims, which could ultimately save lives.
