Last year I promised that we would be changing the way we do things to improve UDiON and I am happy to report that we accomplished our goals! 2014 was a very successful year for us and will be long remembered as a year that helped put the UDiON Foundation on track with the momentum to move forward. Here are the Top 7 reasons why 2014 was a really good year for UDiON and why it should be remembered:

  1. Conservatorship Clarity:

In May 2014, we received confirmation that we will be able to continue working with the same leadership and manner that has helped get us where we are today! We feel that is will make a major difference and help us focus on broadening access to education for all.

  1. Backup Disaster Recovery Center:

Our disaster recovery center was built on time and on budget. This accomplishment will help us grow and demonstrates our ability to build technological projects that are simple and easy to comprehend.

  1. Technology Overhaul:

We did a complete makeover of our website. Many hours were dedicated to improve the user experience so visitors can easily navigate through the pages and find the projects and programs that interest them.

  1. Media & Social Network:

The work we do for others was featured in many news articles, magazines, radio and television shows. The Florida Times Union posted our upcoming trip, Beyond Non-Profit, International Experience & Field Study, OneSpark accepted our proposal for “Enabling Ability”, Stop the Violence featured us on their annual Banquet, ATN Bangla, Chanel I, Ekushey TV featured our work in Bangladesh and in New York.

  1. Awards and Achievements:

We have received many awards and acknowledgements!

The El-Beth-El Development Center gave us the Successful Role Model award, Nemours provided recognition and nominations, The White House administration approved UDiON as an official “Presidents Volunteer Service Organization”, we earned 19th place against 610 creators at the world’s largest crowdfunding festival, OneSpark, received Google’s grant “AdWords” in the amount of $10K, and on the last day of the year we received an acknowledgement from Google as an official “Google Non-Profit Organization”.

UDiON participated in many community events that allowed us to work with other non-profits, community leaders and work directly with families in need. To name a few, we co-hosted a back-to-school giveaway, volunteered at a “give back to community” event, helped feed the homeless, were participants at a holiday giveaway, attended the global conference in Washington, DC, to discuss poverty, water security and community learning as well as many other round table discussions and forums.

  1. New Projects and Programs:

In 2014, we partnered with local organizations to help serve our disabled and abounded population. We also reorganized and renamed our technology centers to, “UDiON Academy”. We started offering digital tutoring and incorporated “SeasonShil” tutoring. We are very proud to share that 5 students from our first academy received an A+! This is a huge accomplishment and the first time in history of the school.

  1. Transfer & New Leadership:

We have maintained our core leadership since the start of UDiON. However, last year we strengthened our organization by appointing a Bangladesh Country Chief, an Executive Director for India, a Corporate Ambassador, and an Intern for Social Good from the University of North Florida. They all have the energy, skills, and drive to lead us to become a stronger organization.

I would also like to add that we have partnered with other non-profits and agencies to generate more responsive volunteers. By doing this, it has enabled us to improve our culture and help us better serve our community. As we head into 2015, we are operationally strong and have the momentum for continued improvement. We hope to provide the deprived and impoverished the life and education they deserve!

Wishing you all the best in 2015! Thank you for all you do to help UDiON and our community a better place. I’m proud of the work we do here at UDiON, I’m sure you are too.

Thank You!

-Radwan
